The Holy Spirit community fete!

Its fete time again! I went to the Holy Spirit community fete at the Holy Spirit community school in ringwood on saturday. Ive gone to this fete every year for about 4 or 5 years and this time, it was the best one yet! I actually didn't know how to contain my excitment. I found myself just staring at all the people and all the stuff (stuff being trash n treasure, cakes, clothes). When I somehow snapped out of it, I enjoyed finding so many treasures! I left the fete looking like a bag lady, and this is some of the favourite things I found...

Cute mugs

A giant roll of stripey paper to add to the collection

Two new tablecloths to add to the stash(top two)

A handmade brooch

Pretty materials

This very pretty garden umbrella

What a pretty photo!!!

I also managed to find some garden pots for my hubbys vegie garden, some clothes for Percy and I, a jolly jumper for Percy to enjoy when he is a bit older and of course, some delicious lemon slice!

I can't wait for the next few fetes coming up!

Thanks for reading...

Family.

Family.

Just recently, my sister, mum, aunty and myself (with percy of course) had a girls day, dedicated to talking about and looking through old photos of my narmie (grandma) and their mum. My narmie is no longer alive, but is definatly always part of our conversation, and I have very fond memories of my childhood growing up with her. I sometimes get sad that I can not see her now, to sit and sew, or learn how to knit,to bake, now that they are things I love to do. My narmie was a sewer. She sewed alot of my clothes and she made glorious food. I hope my crafting and cooking are making her proud, up there somewhere! My Oupa will often write in his letters (yes he still handwrites letters) how proud she would be of me, and I feel very humbled to know that! My aunty wanted to share some of the photos that we had never seen before and information she had gathered over the years about Narmie and our family history, so that as Percy grows up, he may feel like he knows who we are talking about, whos recipes it is we always run too, whose physical features we all seem to have! We had a lovely day and enjoyed eating homemade food from Narmie's recipes. I thought I would share with you, some of the beautiful photos of my Narmie that we looked at! She was quite a stunner too!

I loved seeing these photos of someone's life before I knew them! And I love knowing that Narmie will somehow be part of Percy's life!

Have a look through some of your old family albums..you may just find some gems!

The three of us ended our lovely day out at a favourite cafe of ours, the Kallista Tea Rooms for lunch. You might just need to jot down in your diary to visit the tulip festival next year and make it a nice day out!

Hope you enjoyed these photos!

Cute!

Cute!

On saturday just passed, we celebrated my nieces 2nd birthday! The little lass, belongs to my lovely sister in law, Mezz at mezzmakesstuff.blogspot.com. We celebrated in very cute style, with a tea party being the main theme. Everything was cute. The fresh flowers everywhere, the colourful handmade bunting (made my Mezz), the delicious heart shaped banana cake(also made by Mezz), the mini tea set and the story time that the little miss requested! I didnt take any photos of the party, but Im sure you have a pretty cute picture in your head!

This year for a pressie, I made some cute clothes. Well I think they're cute, and knew they would suit the birthday girl. Last years effort, was a MAMMOTH one. I made this patchwork dog!

I was quite suprised with myself that I could make something like that! Anyway, this year, it wasn't going to be as tricky! I made her two cute tops and found a very cute top at the opshop. I found a vintage card and cute wrapping paper (all opshopped), and I was set for a VERY cute day! Here's what I made...

I lined the inside with pretty fabric for extra cuteness!

A summer top made from a pillowcase

Love the stitching on this!

The back of the top with cute floral buttons I found!

This very cute top I just had to get from the opshop!

I then wrapped it all up in some cute paper and wrote in a cute card..

I can't wait for her 3rd birthday to come, so I can make her something new!

Pinky creamy housey cake!

Pinky creamy housey cake!

A lovely friend of mine just bought her own house! Isn't that just a little bit exciting! We were invited round for dinner, and I thought, to celebrate, why not make a cake! A house cake to be exact! This was a delish cake and went down well with the whole new house theme! I found the recipe here. I looked up a cream cake as I had some seriously good cream that was hovering around its use by date.

Sweet Cream Cake..

2 eggs
1 cup rapadura or coconut sugar
1 2/3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup heavy cream (35% butterfat)
1 teaspoon vanilla

Beat eggs until thick and lemon coloured; gradually beat in sugar. Sift together the dry ingredients. Stir in sifted dry ingredients alternately with the cream and vanilla. Beat well.
Spread batter in a rectangle greased tin and bake at 180C for 20-25 min or until skewer comes out clean.

Once cooled, cut into house shapes. I went a bit overboard and made a dog kennel and picket fence but you can be a bit more simple.

Place on a pretty plate and get ready to ice.

I made two different icings. One chocolate and one pink with natural food colouring. Use your favourite icing recipes or just add icing sugar and butter till you like the flavour and consistency. Add cocoa or food colouring to your liking.

Ice your cake and serve!

Hope you've enjoyed this post!
