I made a dress!

I made a dress. I made it a couple of years ago, in one night. Something came over me and I was so excited. I then wore it to a party and Ive not worn it since. This is because, although I am/was very proud of making a dress, it wasn't exactly the best. The skirt part was longer in some parts than others, it needed to be re cut and shaped again, it needed better stitching and just needed a bit more love. It didn't look like the one below. I have since tried my best to do all these things in the past few weeks and am now very happy with it, and plan to wear it proudly! And woohoo for a mannequin to dress up, no more trying to take photos of myself with a 10 second self timer!

I hope you like it! I'm already planning my next dress. Will share it with you when it's done!

P.s Forgot to post a plate on friday, so here it is today!

Thanks for reading!

  1. It's a gorgeous little frock Taz. Love it, I would wear it proudly. I have run-up a few little dresses with similar issues to your first attempt, I wish I had persevered and fixed them instead of tossing them. I'd love to be able to sew. I have just found the most lovely old patterns in some 60's Home Journal mags - sweet, funky little shift dresses, but I know I would end up stressed out to the max with a thumping headache if I tried to make them! The stuff in shops, just doesn't cut it, and anything nice/interesting is sooo expensive, so well done for sticking with it, looking forward to seeing your next creation x

  7. That dress is gorgeous, love love love the fabrics together-and youre perseverence is admirable. I did a dress making course for all off 9 months years ago, i just found it so frustrating and slow and ivrecently tore up the 1/2 made dress i made in class recenly for bunting. But seeing you dress really makes me want to try again...
