Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone! I thought I would share images of what I made this easter. Yesterday we had dinner with hubbys family and today we had our annual family easter brunch this morning in Healseville, and like usual we had glorious food, quiet surroundings and beautiful trees to gaze at. I made hot cross buns, useful easter treats and loved being with my family. Have a look..

Thankyou husband for giving me a happy birthday!

It's my 26th birthday today. I have a horrible cold so I am celebrating in bed with my 10th million cup of lemon, ginger and honey, and Percy by my side. I just wanted to share with you the lovely gifts my hubby gave me this morning. Although I know he is cute and lovely and all things wonderful, he some how melted my heart again today. He went to one of my favourite little shops, Number 10 Wood Street, that sell all handmade things. This shop is 2 minute walk from our home, how I have not spent all my pennies there I do not know!

First, is this oh so pretty handmade card. He said the girl reminded him of me. He was going to colour her hair in red, but didn't incase he stuffed up the card.

He got me this very pretty necklace. The leaves are paper thin and love how it looks against the light.

He knows my favourite jam is strawberry. On toast with butter and with some tea, is one of my favourite meals.

He also bought me these felt handmade, fair trade, shoes. Ive been wanting some for a while. These were from another shop, also lovely and handmade, called The Friendship Tree.

I love the feeling when you know someone knows you well. My lovely family all gave me pressies too that were exactly the sorts of things Id buy myself!

Wishing my twin a happy birthday too!

I hope to be up and running a bit more healthier soon. Have a Button swap to organise and need to share my latest fete finds...bags of vintage material for $2!!
So glad ive had crochet, pretty hankies and pretty flowers to keep things lovely over the past few bed days.

Feeling Simple

Lately, Ive been tired. I am well but am tired. I think motherhood is catching up with me. Ive been on a high and as things become easier and a bit more predictable, it's almost like things become a bit blurry and hard. I'm not writing this to make you feel sorry for me, or to feel sorry for myself or to worry anyone, but Im writing this cos thats what happening at the moment for me. My blog won't turn into a 'my deepest thoughts' blog, but at the moment, simple is the only word I can think of to describe life. Its not a bad thing, but its different, as usually for me there is alot more colour, but at the moment, its a nice grey. I don't know if I am the only one, but do other people blog because thats all there is to do? I know thats not all there is to do,and I definatly blog because I like to and want to, but at the moment, it's my way of staying connected, whereas usually it's not my only way of being social, keeping busy and communicating with people. Uh oh, I hope that made sense. Please dont think I blog only "cos it gives me something to do", it's just how it is now, otherwise i'd sit and watch dr oz all day and hes annoying. Do people opshop, because it gets them out the house? Thats whats been getting me out lately. Its like we may be feeling and doing the same things, but seperatly, in our own homes, and I guess, sharing this is my way of perhaps realising and finding out, that my feelings at the moment are normal. I probably need a bowl of chilli soup, or an ice cold shower to wake me up..but thats not going to happen!!

Anyway, so simple has also been my craft lately. I have soooo many ideas for things I want to make, but due to current greyness, they wont get done. I have however, done some seriously simple, infact its probably called cheating craft, with some purses. One I bought for a $1 from an opshop. I loved the green and simple design and inside its hot pink. I added some cute Cath Kidston badges (thanks to my lovely sister) to give it some life. The other, I found at an opshop. It's a plastic placemat perhaps, I'm not sure, and I made it into a purse by simply glueing the sides (with liquid nails) and parts together. Have a look....dont tell me I didnt warn you about the simpleness!!

Loved this vintage button..matched so well

Blued a press stud to close it

Glued the sides together, leaving a flap for the opening

Even though they are seriously simple and were quick to make, I wanted to share cos I like easy craft and thought you might too!

Anyway, thanks everyone who reads my blog. Will be back soon, hopefully with more details on my Vintage Button Swap I am planning!

Children's foam blocks.

My cute nephew turned two recently, and I made him a set of foam blocks using some of my thrifted vintage kids sheets. I wasn't sure if it was age appropriate, but I made them anyway, and I am glad. He threw them, sat on them, stacked them, so really I think it was a good idea. I cut out some of my favourite fabrics, some with cute pictures, others with  letters that spell his name, so when he's into spelling, he can have fun with words! The foam inside the blocks....I may have taken a bread knife and cut the end of our foam mattress..shh!  Have a look..

I am quite happy with how they turned out, and plan to make some for Percy soon! What things do you like to make for little boys?

In other exciting and scary news..I'm currently planning a Vintage Button swap, so if your interested to take part, stay tuned. Im busy taking part in a nautical craft swap and last night had a dream I recieved vintage buttons, so decided to make the dream a reality! Will get the ball rolling asap!

Thanks for reading!

My Wedding Album

Today is my 3rd wedding anniversary. Tomorrow is our 8th year of being together. I am the happiest girl and love my hubby to bits and pieces. Here are some photos from our special day. Our wedding was exactly what we wanted. It was DIY, second hand, opshopped, borrowed, handmade and perfect for us. My dress and hubbys suit both second hand finds, the flowers we bought from dandenong market and arranged ourselves, the amazing cake made by my sis in law, the food, a collection of our favourite dishes, made by family and friends, the plates opshopped, the furniture borrowed, the house my mums! Hope you can share in the happiness with these photos..
